About

I am a freelance web developer and this is my business website. I also write at my personal site, on various subjects such as technology, photo gear, travel, culture, health, diet, movies, cartoons and more.

The name of my website means “self-expression” or “expressing yourself” in Romanian (my native language). I have been a freelance consultant since 1995. I started developing websites about the same time, but was more interested in database development then. I moved into intensive web development in 1999, when I discovered that most of what I wanted to do with databases could be done online, and that’s what I still do.

I have the benefit of extensive experience on my side. I have been involved with computers since 1993, in all sorts of capacities. Along the way, I have implemented an Electronic Medical Record System (EMR/HIS) for a hospital, a Learning Management System (Blackboard) for a university, managed entire departments and wore multiple organizational and hierarchical “hats”.

I believe what I bring to the table is fairly unique. I personally do all of my own work, and this includes database design, programming, site layout and graphic design. On those rare occasions when I need to employ additional services or talent, I monitor the work closely to ensure that it meets my standards. Because of my extensive background, I can also step back from the work and look at the larger issues: quality of content, user interface/navigability issues, product branding, and long-term strategy.

If you’d like to find out more about me, there’s a more detailed About section on my personal site.
